Bills from the utility company can sometimes be confusing and sometimes, it’s hard to understand what you’re actually being charged for. Some of the charges come directly from the utility company to maintain an infrastructure to keep your home lit and warm. Other charges are regulated by the Public Utilities Commission (PUC). Finally, some of those charges can come from an alternate supplier. The ability to have an alternate supplier is due to many states being deregulated.
