AC Inspection

There isn't a better time than early spring to get your air conditioner ready for the hot summer months. With your system lying dormant for the winter, you need to take special care to avoid running into issues when you need your air conditioner most!

Clear Any Obstructions

The easiest place to start is outside your home. Check the exterior unit and clear away anything that could get in the way of proper airflow. This includes grass, hedges, or even trees. It's also common to find grass, leaves, or trash by the condenser that should also be removed. In addition, clear off the grills and spray the coils off with a hose.

Clean or Replace Filters

Back inside your home, you'll find the filter for your air conditioner. The filter should be checked monthly for excess debris and replaced every three months. A dirty filter doesn't properly clean the air, allowing dust and other particles to circulate back through your home. It also reduces airflow, and ultimately makes your system less efficient.

Check the Drain Line

Another easy step to take is to check is the drain line. All air conditioners have excess moisture that needs to drain out of the system. To do this, there is a there is a pipe or hose attached to your interior unit that moves the water away from the coils and into a drainage area. If this line is blocked, the water can back up into the air conditioning system and can be expensive to repair. If this line is blocked, be sure to call a professional technician for repair ASAP.
